2012 Summer Class Registration Opens July 2

Artist in the Environment – Judi Pettite
This studio course will focus on the deep and rich practice of art making in and about our environment. We will contextualize our work by looking at the various categories of earth-based art from the Land Art of the 1960’s and 70’s to local indigo production and urban farms. Through field trips and studio work we will engage directly and personally with the inspiration that comes from our relationship to the earth. There will be one weekend field trip where the students learn about mapping and another where they will learn to make Japanese Indigo Dye.

One on One: Transformative Arts Coaching – Amy Conger
Creative work can plumb the depths of the human soul, drawing material up from the pre-verbal parts of the self where so much of the human experience is defined. There is a further deepening of the experience of personal exploration and change that occurs when the process is held by a supportive witness. In this class, we combine both transformative arts and one-on-one coaching into a practice that can be used to facilitate change in clients and others. This is
a beginning level class. No coaching or transformative arts experience is necessary. For those with some experience, this class can serve to augment existing coaching or transformative
arts skills.

Process Painting – Margaret Lindsey
Process painting, also known as expressive painting, differs from standard painting classes in the approach. It’s all about meaning. Every assignment, every painting challenge, and all group practices are designed to elicit inquiry on the part of the artmaker. This practice utilizes professional painting methods, which are combined with other unique and playful tricks for getting acrylic paint on various surfaces. Each class session begins with a guided meditation, followed by directions for an art process.
